Charity Cases: Beware of Scheme

Various pharmaceutical companies have settled with the U.S. government for their improper use of charities to pay kickbacks to Medicare enrollees to boost sales of their medications. These companies are accused of using these charities to cover enrollees’ out-of-pocket expenses. The pharmaceutical companies accused of this scheme are: Actelion, Alexion, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Lundbeck, Novartis, Pfizer and United Therapeutics.
